How to Compare Cleaning Quotes and Service Scope
A plain-language guide to scope, price drivers, limitations, and buyer questions for cleaning quote.
What the service means
A room count, square-foot price, hourly rate, and recurring checklist describe different pricing units. Compare the actual areas, tasks, condition assumptions, supplies, frequency, and exclusions.
Common terminology and scope differences
Ask the provider to translate labels into observable tasks, quantities, materials, staffing, timing, and customer responsibilities. A familiar package name is not a complete scope.
What commonly drives price
- property size and current condition
- one-time deep cleaning versus recurring maintenance
- inside appliances, windows, baseboards, carpet, upholstery, or specialty floors
- crew size, access, parking, pets, supplies, and minimum charges
Limitations
A lower recurring rate may assume an initial deep clean or a minimum schedule. “Deep cleaning” has no universal checklist; require the tasks in writing.
Questions to ask before booking
- Which rooms, surfaces, and tasks are included?
- Is the quote fixed, hourly, or subject to condition?
- Who supplies equipment and consumables?
- How are access, breakage, rework, and cancellations handled?
A practical comparison method
Create one row for every material, task, visit, fee, exclusion, and responsibility. Mark a blank as “not stated,” not as “included.” Ask each provider to clarify material differences in writing, then compare the total against the outcome and risk you actually need.
